The world of mental science and manifestation certainly has its own corner of the internet, with its own set of gurus and experts, all teaching a cornucopia of different methods to help their followers ‘manifest their dream life’.
Now I don’t speak against these creators. I do believe that spreading the word of these universal truths to anyone who is interested is important… I mean… evidently!
However, every so often in the comment section of various different videos or articles on related topics, I see people expressing how they are so tired of trying to manifest their desires, that they have tried all the techniques and nothing has happened, and that they are getting confused between having to persist in the belief that they already have what they want, whilst simultaneously ‘letting go’.
And I wonder, it is all getting a bit complicated?
The truth is, online creators often share the methods that have worked best for them, since in their world, they have proven their efficacy and want other’s to benefit from what they have learnt. Yet, more often than not, it is not the manifestation methods or techniques that help us to co-create our own lives, it is the precise understanding of the workings that govern universal law.
Recently, I have been reading The Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science by Thomas Troward, and this quote really helped me understand that methods and techniques are merely tools rather than a clearly defined pathway towards our goals, dreams, and aspirations. It goes as follows.
“In these lectures my purpose has been, not so much to give specific rules of practice as to lay down the broad general principles of Mental Science which will enable the student to form rules for himself.
In every walk of life, book knowledge is only a means to an end. Books can only direct us where to look and what to look for, but we must do the finding for ourselves; therefore, if you have really grasped the principles of the science, you will frame rules of your own which will give you better results than any attempt to follow somebody else’s method, which was successful in their hands precisely because it was theirs.
~The Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science by Thomas Troward
Although he is talking about book knowledge, I believe the same goes for any information we procure, whether it is from blog posts, articles, podcasts, or videos, it is merely knowledge to help aid and inspire us within our own personal journey, rather than constrict us to one route.
Whether we are aware of it or not, we are already the primary cause to all the circumstances within our life. We are already manifesting our reality, with or without this or that technique. Truthfully, our manifestation journey should be one of simplicity and ease. It is only that we have been so programmed to think in a particular way, that it seems more difficult than it is.
So, in an effort to simplify what seems to become more and more complex, I believe that techniques should be disregarded until a true understanding of the universal law has been achieved. Only then will it be clear which method might work for you, either created by yourself for yourself, or inspired by someone else. Perhaps you’ll find you don’t need a method at all? You haven’t so far…
