Often within our lives we can become convinced that certain things are really difficult for us to accomplish, whether that is earning money, falling in love, or even something as comparatively small as passing an exam.
However, rarely is this ever absolutely true. In fact, most of the time the beliefs that we hold about ourselves come from our past experiences and upbringing. Overtime, we have created a self-concept that is centred around us being unworthy of whatever it is that we desire, thus manifesting the lack of our desire within our three dimensional reality. Whereas, if we have the strength and discipline to work on changing our mindset to one that believes we are worthy of our desire, that is when we can start to see the manifestation of our desires in our physical world.
Something I often think about is how much of our world is man-made. Now, I am not only talking about the items, technology, or material things that we interact with on a daily basis, but instead the larger systems that are frame our world, or at least our perspective of it.
Let’s take money for example. Money isn’t an inherent part of nature; it doesn’t grow on trees. Instead it is a physical depiction of an exchange of energy, allowing us to give something to someone that is equal in value to the item or service that they can provide us. Early money was usually coins made out of the metals that determined their worth, be it copper, silver, or gold. But then paper money was introduced, changing people’s perception of money. In fact when paper money became legal tender in the U.K. in 1833, it caused quite a stir, since people didn’t trust the idea that something as cheap as paper could be worth the high amounts that were written upon them. Accepting the notion that bank notes were worth more than the coins was a development of trust, so much so that nowadays we don’t question the value of our physical money no matter what it is made of.
However, the modern day has taken it a step further with digital money. We happily tap our cards completely trusting that the money we know we have in our bank account is actually in our bank account. It is all about belief and trust.
What I am trying to illustrate here is that money is a man-made tool that has been developed and honed overtime, and will continue to be developed as the needs and requirements of the human race change. Money does not come with a selection of conditions that state who should earn more money and who should earn less. Those conditions are only formed within our own minds and are based on how we see ourselves and the skills that we possess. Like I touched on earlier, money is nothing more than a physical representation of an exchange of energy, and so, if we can transform our beliefs about money and how it relates to us, we can start to manifest the amounts we desire into our lives.
I am a full believer that knowledge is power, and that learning about the world and the various topics that reside within in it, is a huge part of our personal development during our time on this planet. However, there is no doubt that our education system is a man-made system, and that a lot of what we are taught and examined on has been designed and created by other people who may or may not learn in the same way as we do. This can leave many people believing that they are less intelligent than somebody else, purely because they didn’t do as well in their exams. Yet, it isn’t the exam result itself that determines someone’s future, but the mindset that one holds of themselves because of their exam result.
And so, it isn’t so much about the exam as it is about understanding how we value our own intelligence. If we can develop a mindset that is strongly rooted in the belief of our intelligence, something as insubstantial as a poor exam result cannot harm the trajectory of our lives or prevent us from achieving our goals. What’s more is that if we can build this mindset before taking our exams, we are more likely to achieve the results we desire, without the extreme emotional turmoil and stress that we are so used to putting ourselves through. The choice is ours.
Lastly, I wanted to talk about love. I don’t believe that love itself is a man-made system. In fact, I believe love is one of the most natural and important aspects of our world. Nevertheless, we humans do well to make relationships and dating seem like a system, often basing it on things like looks, material wealth, and someone’s supposed ‘sexual market value’ (I honestly hate that phrase).
Much like exams, ranking people based on their external appearance or status can convince them that they can only exist at one level and never change or improve. Yet, if we believe that we can create our reality through forming a self-concept of ourselves that puts us at the top, we can find that all of a sudden we are all of the above- beautiful, wealthy, intelligent, and worthy of love. Love is almost as important as breathing, and no-one should be made to feel that they don’t deserve it.
You see, if so much of our world and the systems within it are man-made, then surely it is only our belief in these systems and perception of them that allow them to exist and affect us in the way that they do. Through our own mindset we can make the world work for us, as long as we are abiding by universal law- which at the end of the day is the only objective truth that we should be concerned about.
